SC Engineers served as the Commissioning Authority for the 383,500 SF, eight-story Scripps Health Cardiovascular Institute. The facility includes 108 medical/surgical beds, 60 intensive care unit beds, 10 interventional/operating rooms, a sterile processing department, and space for a future expansion of the emergency department. The project also includes a new central energy plant that is approximately 27,150 SF with underground fuel storage tanks designed to accommodate future campus expansion. The central plant provides air conditioning, heating, medical gas, steam, fuel storage, freshwater holding, and emergency generators for the new facility.
SC Engineers’ scope of work included LEED enhanced third-party commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems; verification of contractor commissioning and testing; and DDC, electrical, lighting, and security systems sequence of operation.
