SC Engineers served as the Mechanical Engineer of Record for the upgrade of the existing 75,000 SF Hahn University Center and the addition of a 76,000 SF Student Life Pavilion at the University of San Diego. The renovation of the Hahn University Center included the conversion of an existing Deli into a student lounge and the conversion of an existing faculty/staff dining and existing serving area into a faculty staff bar/lounge. The Student Life Pavilion addition provides a hub for student life activities and includes a five-station full-service kitchen/cafeteria; a student convenience store; two levels of student offices and meeting rooms; game rooms and lounges; and a rooftop assembly space including a green roof.
SC Engineers provided a hybrid natural ventilation design for the upper levels of the addition to achieve LEED Gold Certification. The mechanical systems included a variable air volume system with distributed hydronic air handling units tied into the campus chilled water loop. Kitchen ventilation and plumbing design were also provided.
