SC Engineers served as the Commissioning Authority for illumina, a global leader in genomics, for the following projects at the San Diego campus:

Building 6 Headquarters Expansion: The 291,000 SF, five-level expansion project, which achieved LEED Silver Certification, expands the central plant and provides the interior build-out of the facility shell into a fully-validated pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and warehouse. The facility includes project development labs, clean rooms, pharmaceutical manufacturing, refrigerated storage, hazardous containment, labs, office space, and general support space.

i3 Campus: This LEED Silver Certified project consists of three (3), new buildings totaling 595,000 SF. Each structure includes a central scientific lab zone as well as office, conference, fitness, restaurant, and cafe space. The campus also includes a central plant sized with two (2) 600-ton water chillers with the capacity for a future additional 600-ton chiller and a full rooftop mechanical system per building. Sustainable features include green roofs; bio-filtration zones on the site; the use of recycled water for irrigation and cooling towers; on-site fuel cell energy generation; motorized and fixed sunshades; and naturally ventilated office areas, lobbies, and amenity areas.
